【摘要】:Thedatadevelopedbythistestmethodshowthebondingstrengthandintrinsicstrengthofdifferentqualitiesofair-settingmortar.Theproceduresdescribedinthistestmethodmeasurethebondingstrengthandintrinsicstrengthofair-settingmortarswhenusedwithspecificbrandsorlotsofrefractorybrick.Notethatitispossibletoobtainresultswiththesemethodsforbrickandmortarcombinationswhichareincompatibleforuseathighoperatingtemperatures.Theusermustdeterminethiscompatibility.Onlybrickandmortarcombinationsknownorintendedtobecompatibleforaparticularuseshouldbetested.Propertiesofthebrick,includingitsstrength,apparentporosity,andporesizedistribution,canaffectthemeasurementofboththebondingstrengthofthebrick-mortarcompositeandtheintrinsicstrengthofthemortar.Theaveragemodulusofruptureofthetestbrick,asdeterminedbyTestMethodC133,shouldexceedthatexpectedforthemortarbeingtested.Thetestingofspecificbrandsorlotsofbrickandmortarispreferred.Threemodesoffailureareavailable:thebreakmayoccurwithinthebrickitself,atthebrick-mortarinterface,orwithinthemortaritself.Thelatterprovidesapracticalmeasurementofthestrengthofthemortaritselfandisthepredominantmodeoffailurewiththefour-pointflexuretestdescribed.Thethree-pointflexuretestmeasuresthefailurestrengthofthebrick-mortarcomposite.Failurewithinthebrickitselfsuggeststhateithertheparticularbrickcontainedaseriousflaw,orthatthemortarjointstrengthisofthesamemagnitudeorgreaterthanthatoftherefractorybrick.Themodeoffailureshouldalwaysbereportedinthefinalreport.Aruggednesstestforthistestmethodperformedin1985foundthefollowingvariablestoberugged:specimensize(2.5to3.0in.),mortaredsurface(cutversusuncut),jointthickness(1/16to1/8in.),pullingofrods(fastversusslow),theloadingrate(500to1000lbf/min),themethodofloadapplication(3-versus4-point),andtheoperator.Thecoldbondingstrengthsofrefractorymortarsobtainedbythistestmethodaresuitableforuseinresearchanddevelopment,qualitycontrol,andforestablishingandevaluatingcompliancewithspecificationsbetweenproducersandconsumers.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthebondingstrengthofair-settingrefractorymortarbydeterminingtheflexuralstrength(modulusofrupture)atroomtemperatureofoven-driedbrick-mortarjoints.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
