【摘要】:Phytoplanktonarebasictothefoodchaininallaquaticenvironments.Inaddition,theyhavelongbeenconsideredtobeimportantindicatorsofwater-qualityconditions.Phytoplanktondataarealsofrequentlyusedintheplanninganddesignofwater-treatmentfacilitiesandreservoirs.1.1Thistestmethodcoversdeterminingthedensityandtaxonomicclassificationofphytoplankton.Itisapplicablebothtorelativelysparseordensephytoplanktonconcentrations,providedthesuspended-sedimentconcentrationislow.TheSedgwickRafter(S-R)methodrequireslesscostlyapparatusthandoestheinvertedmicroscopemethodbutgiveslessaccurateresults.TheinherentinaccuracyintheSedgwick-Raftermethodisduetothedesignofthecountingchamberandcannotbecircumventedbyadifferentchoiceofoptics.Forthisreason,theS-Rmethodislimitedtotheuseofobjectivelenseshavingaworkingdistanceofapproximately1.6mmormore.With10ocularsthemaximumoverallmagnificationisapproximately250.Highconcentrationsofsuspendedsedimentcanobscurethealgalcells,andthuscauseinterference.1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletobothfreshwaterandmarinesamples.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecificprecautionaryinformationseeSection8.
